Ian Mackay is a C2 quadriplegic out of Port Angeles, Washington. He is a big fan of “getting outside” and runs a nonprofit, called Ian’s Ride, that advocates for a more accessible outdoors. He has ridden his wheelchair across the state of Washington on two different occasions and is an active public speaker. He hosts three different paralysis-based support groups every month around his area and is a proud board member of The Here & Now Project. He is also very passionate about getting those with mobility impairments access to technology. He consults for Apple, provides in person demos for recent SCI survivors, and is on several tech-based advisory boards. His main philosophy is that living with paralysis is difficult, doing it alone is near impossible. Community is the answer, we are stronger together, and nature is the best medicine.
